History of the Center Founded by George Krutz and Craig Trompeter, The Feldenkrais Center of Chicago opened its doors in November of 2003. Krutz, who had been practicing the Feldenkrais Method for over nine years in medical offices and during home visits, had long dreamt of a center devoted to the Feldenkrais Method. In 1999, while searching for a location to hold a Feldenkrais Professional Training Program, Krutz discovered the historic Fine Arts Building. The beautiful building was home to a lively assortment of artistic and cultural activities. When space became available in 2003 he found the perfect space for the center. Trompeter, a classical musician who was in Feldenkrais training, expressed an interest in developing the center with Krutz. Together their goal became to create a place in central Chicago where people can discover the benefits of the Feldenkrais Method for themselves, especially reaching out to the local arts and professional communities. The center also serves as a meeting and learning space for the local Feldenkrais professional community. |
